Co-investment Partnerships (Shared-Funding): Partners contribute resources alongside GitLab Foundation to expand programs or pilot new initiatives within our focus areas. This includes:
- Follow-On Funding: Additional investment or support from a partner based on a prior investment from GitLab Foundation, expanding impact. These grants are often structured as follow-on to our laboratory grants, where we help build evidence of outcomes or potential.
- Matching Funding: Equivalent funds pledged by a partner contingent upon GitLab Foundation’s granted amount.
- Ex: FSD, Ezrah Charitable Trust, FWF
- Pooled Funding: Funding from multiple partners combined into one fund to support shared objectives. This can be managed by Gitlab Foundation or other entities.
- Strategic Collaborations/Systems Change Collaborations: Joint initiatives with peer organizations, research institutions, advocacy groups, or funders aimed at tackling root causes and enabling long-term change. These partnerships typically involved a mixture of other types of funding collaborations organized through a central strategy or planning group.
At the end of every quarter, the Grants Manager will send an update on all matching funds, using the below template for tracking purposes.
