The Foundation uses Lattice to streamline and improve key people management processes, ensuring they align with our values and strategic goals. Through Lattice, we conduct our annual engagement, monthly pulse, and all-hands meeting surveys, enabling us to consistently monitor team sentiment, identify areas for improvement, and act on feedback in real-time. The platform also facilitates aligning individual goals with organizational objectives, ensuring each team member's contributions support our mission. Additionally, Lattice supports our performance management and compensation processes by providing a centralized system for setting expectations, tracking progress, and recognizing high performers. This promotes a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous growth. Click here to see when activities within Lattice will occur.
Team members will receive email prompts and reminders whenever they need to complete a task within Lattice to ensure timely completion.

Engagement Surveys
Annual Team Engagement Survey
At the GitLab Foundation, employee engagement is key to our success. Engagement surveys help us gauge team satisfaction, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement. This annual survey provides insights to improve team dynamics, enhance processes, and retain top talent by addressing concerns early.
- Planning & Alignment: Align survey content with organizational values and goals.
- Review previous results and identify key focus areas.
- Align with leadership on any new focus areas for the upcoming survey.
- Tailor survey questions to reflect overall engagement and specific areas of concern (e.g., team dynamics, workload, values alignment).
- Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) will be included every year: How likely are you to recommend Gitlab Foundation as a place to work? (on a scale of 0 (not at all likely) to 10 (extremely likely) (learn more).
- Ensure questions remain simple, concise, and actionable.
- Where possible and informative, repeat survey questions across years to collect comparable data and measure trends over time.
- Surveys should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
- Survey Creation: Build the survey in Lattice.
- Customize the survey with previously agreed-upon questions.
- Every annual engagement survey will ask team members: (learn more about measuring eNPS here).

- Share the high-level results with the entire organization during a bi-weekly team meeting.
- Outline specific actions that will be taken to address the feedback.
- Set goals for the next quarter based on this feedback.
- Ongoing Monitoring & Follow-Up: Track progress on action items.
- Regularly check in on action items in weekly or monthly meetings.
- Gather informal feedback on whether team members notice changes related to the action items.
- Prepare for the following survey by evaluating progress from the current one.
- Monitor progress through monthly pulse surveys.
Pulse Surveys
Monthly pulse surveys provide a short, frequent tool to monitor employee sentiment and can be tailored to gauge sentiment around current team dynamics, policy changes, and recent activities. Pulse surveys will be distributed every other week and take at most 3 minutes to complete.
All-Hands Surveys
After in-person all-hands team meetings, the organization will quickly gather feedback, assess meeting effectiveness, and identify improvements. This ensures clear communication, fosters team alignment, and promotes continuous improvement through open, transparent input.
